At this clinic our guests can receive Ayurvedic therapies enhancing their wellness and physical well-being, all whilst holidaying at our luxury resort. In fact, many of the therapies can be provided in the comfort of your own suite at the Sandray Luxury Resort for a nominal charge for additional cleaning.

For the average fourteen-day holiday there are many packages provided as listed at Schedule of Packages. Packages are also available for extended periods, 1 week as well as individual sessions. Note that some of the sessions can only be provided at the Colva or Margao Clinic.

Experienced and qualified experts in the Ancient Therapy of Ayurveda, Indian head massage, massage, aromatherapy and foot massage - reflexology will help you attain wellness and well-being and we hope will set the scene for a long and rewarding association with the complementary therapies and Ayurvedic medicine in particular.

Due to the popularity of many of these therapies and the limited availability of the qualified therapists we strongly recommend, to avoid disappointment, that you request your package at the time of booking your holiday. A 20% deposit for the sessions is credited to your account on booking thereafter all sessions are paid for as they occur, the deposit off-setting the initial charges.

After assessment a package may be tailor made to suit your needs or one of the sessions in the Therapies available may be chosen.

Interspersed with treatments we recommend exercise in our ten-meter swimming pool and a relaxing spell in the Jacuzzi, and, as no visit would be complete without exploring the wonders of Goa and its tranquil corners, the
Jai International Travel bureau is there to take the hassle out of arranging your tours, fitting them into your schedule of therapies. Just inform the bureau staff the tours you would like to participate in and it will all be arranged for you at discounted prices Goa Map & Popular Tours

The Schedule of Packages depicts a number of packages consisting of a confidential assessment and commencement on the first day after arrival. If you choose a tailor made complementary health holiday special then the therapies available list will provide the basis for this, experienced therapists recommending a range of therapies to suite your needs. As indicated above individual sessions, 1 week and fourteen day packages and extended stay packages can all be offered.

The Ancient Therapy of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian therapy, its origins untraceable due to its coexistence with the universe. Even in the ancient days of history man had a vision to see and understand the relationship between himself and nature. His understanding of the natural world around him developed into this great science called Ayurveda. This holy medical system is dependent on prevention and healthy ways of living. A wide variety of healing techniques are used within the ambit of this system including massage, mineral supplements, dietary change and medicated enemas.
Ayurveda recognises that we all have a unique constitution that is determined by the balance of three vital energies in the body. These energies are known as the three doshas known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. We are controlled by one or possibly two dominant doshas and therefore individuals are classed as vata type, pitta type or kapha type, or when two dominants occur vata/pitta type, pitta/kapha type etc.
When all the three doshas are in balance we are in a healthy state. Vata is the driving force and relates mainly to the nervous system and the body's energy. Pitta is fire and relates to metabolism, digestion, enzymes, acid and bile whilst Kapha is associated with the water of the body, mucous membranes, phlegm, fat and lymphatics. A complete health care system, Ayurvedic medicine provides an explanation for all modern medical conditions and how the disease process started and what initially caused it. Disorders that can be treated are gastro-intestinal problems, circulatory, metabolic and nervous system disorders, high blood pressure and blood sugar problems. Some of the many symptoms that can be helped are headaches, tension, anxiety and insomnia.
A qualified therapist provides the Ayurvedic sessions at the Sandray Luxury Resort and/or at Ayurvihar, the House of Ayurveda clinic at Colva or Margao. On the first day of therapy, the constitution and energies of the recipient is assessed giving the practitioner a rationale for the types of intervention most likely to be beneficial.
The therapist will encourage the continuation of Ayurvedic medicine after the initial introduction at the Sandray Luxury Resort as Ayurvedic intervention is most successful over a long period of time and is now available in most western countries.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is a traditional Indian therapy that has been practiced in India for over 1,000 years and includes massage of the face, ears, scalp, neck, shoulders and upper arms. It additionally balances energy flow due to the presence in the head of the important energy centers of the brow, crown and throat. The many different types of this relaxing therapy take from 30 minutes to two hours. They are safe and very effective providing relief from tension, stress, insomnia and aches and pains. It is very soothing and comforting and the rebalancing of the energy flow creates a deep sense of wellness and well-being. It was carried out originally by women for cleansing and improving the condition of their hair keeping it in beautiful condition. The use of oil is not necessary in most people but massaging the head with oil can greatly improve the condition of the hair and may be advised by the therapist or requested by the guest. This is achieved by stimulating the blood flow to the scalp thereby nourishing the hair roots. A variety of herbs and oils are used in the process giving the added benefit of relieving a number of common scalp conditions.

Massage

Massage is very old and can be traced back to the early Chinese culture around 400BC. It is now one of the fastest growing interventions in the field of health care.
Massage works by mechanical and reflex actions. Mechanical action includes the movement of muscles and soft tissues of the body using pressure and stretching movements to cleanse them of various harmful toxins. This same action separates the fibers within the skin and loosens stiff joints.
Reflex actions are created when the treatment of one part of the body affects another part as nerve pathways connect these different parts of the body to each other and form flows of energy known as 'meridians'.
Massage improves the blood circulation to the skin and it aids digestion. It is known to help insomniacs and migraine sufferers and to help reduce high blood pressure, relax tense muscles and unknot tight fibers and connective tissue. In this way massage helps reduce emotional tension, induces relaxation and reduces stress.
Each massage session will last approximately 60 – 90 minutes.
Depending on the outcome of the confidential assessment the therapist will treat you through the four stages of healing, these being relief, correction, strengthening and maintenance. The massage sessions may be aimed at calming the sensory nerves, the stimulation of blood flow, reducing muscular tension and lymphatic congestion and the unknotting of tissue fibers.
As with the other therapies available under our ‘Complementary Therapy Holiday Special’ the therapist will educate you into how to continue strengthening weak joints and maintaining the body for optimal health after returning home.

Aromatherapy

This popular therapy uses essential oils in a systematic and holistic way to enhance wellness and maximize physical well-being. Oils extracted from plants - the essential oils - are known to possess therapeutic properties that are very distinctive to the specific plants. Aromatherapy promotes positive health and prevents disease, the essential oils being applied in a number of ways through massage, baths and inhalations.

Foot Massage - Reflexology

The aim of foot massage is to stimulate the nerve endings in the feet by specific massage techniques that then effect changes in other parts of the body, optimising health. Congestion or tension in any part of the feet reveals congestion or tension in a related part of the body and by stimulating specific areas of the foot, relaxation and the healing process is maximized. Unlike much of conventional medical intervention, foot massage works on the underlying problems within the body and works through the body's nervous system.
During the initial assessment the qualified therapist will take a detailed history that is then followed by the sessions themselves. These take approximately 30 minutes and involve light, firm massage. During the sessions some areas of the foot may feel rather tender which correlates with problem areas in the body. The therapist will point out how to treat a disorder at home by indicating the exact areas to massage. Foot massage is a pleasant, relaxing and health promoting therapy and used regularly it enhances other treatments being administered leading to feelings of well-being and vitality.
