Visas
All non-Indian nationals require a visa to enter any part of India including Goa. These can be obtained from the Indian High Commission at Aldwich, London by personal collection and takes 1 – 2 hours. Alternatively the High Commission runs a Visa Express service by post. For other nationals the address of their nearest Indian Embassy or High Commission can be found on the Internet.
Health
We recommend that all tourists check with their GP the health precautions for India and if necessary obtain booster doses. It is wise to take anti-malarial tablets commencing some weeks before arrival. These can be obtained from your local pharmacy without a prescription. However, you should discuss your anti-malarial cover with a qualified pharmacist before purchase. The Indian Health Service is good, no particular disease is rife and the doctor-on-call service at Sandray will ensure quick access to medical intervention in the unlikely event of an occurrence. |
Transport
Tourists to Goa do not tend to hire cars because travel by taxi is so cheap. You can hire a taxi all day and travel large distances for as little as £10.00 and the taxi drivers are very helpful. Buses are very cheap and trains run north to south from Mumbai through to the southern Indian states. Cycle hire is very cheap and can be hired per day. At low tide and down by the water the sand is usually hard making it possible to cycle miles along the beach. If you intend to return by the beach don't go too far as the sand is soft higher up. Wherever you go during your day it is wise to have plenty of high factor sunscreen and carry and drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids.
Where we are?
